From wild fields to conservation.
In the past there was no need to reforest, wild maguey was abundant in the stony fields of the central area of the state of Guerrero; However time has caught up with us and the work of helping Mother Nature recover is in our hands.
MAGUEY CUPREATA
The maguey Cupreata reproduces exclusively through the germination of the seeds which are carried through the air, the natural reforestation cycle of wild maguey fields.
We collect seeds from healthy and dominant magueys, germinate each seed at home, and take them to the nursery for a year, and once the rainy season is approaching, it is time to carry out the task of returning to nature the life that gives us the mystic distillation of mezcal Guerrerense.
MAGUEY SACATORO
The maguey from Mexico that lives in Guerrero.
Mainly used as a natural fence, forming together with its offspring a natural barrier that prevents the crossing of livestock, hence its name "Saca-Toro".
The population of this maguey in the region is very scarce, and since 2019, we began with the rescue and reproduction of this maguey.
It is reproduced through offspring through plant shoots (apomixis), plant root (rizomas) and by seed.
THE PEDREGAL
The natural environment of hilly, stony and arid growth means that the virtues of the maguey Cupreata are accentuated over time. Loaded with minerals from the rocks and the dehydration of 9 months due to drought; the ripe maguey gives us unique sugars that transform into a mezcal with exceptional notes.
